The following document offers a suggested sequence to orchestrate a school-wide write. Before students write, picture books are read aloud to model the personal narrative genre in which they will be asked to write. A group activity gets students thinking about the characteristics of quality writing in order to bring all their previous learning forward in a collective way. This document also contains assessment information and an example of a class profile that informs instruction for the months to come.
